I started out as a Copywriter then swapped to Art Direction. That gave me a useful creative skill set which helps me create solid ideas quickly for all media. In the UK I worked for Legas Delaney, FCO, Leo Burnett, DDB, Publicis and Inferno.
In Australia I’ve held Senior Art Director and Creative Director roles at Havas, Ogilvy, M&C Saatchi / Lida and most recently Publicis Groupe. Where I created hard working ideas that sold - and sometimes won awards.
Leeds United and me go back a long time. As the club anthem goes - we’ve been through it all together and we’ve had our ups and downs.
But I’ve made lifelong friends and travelled the UK and across Europe following my team. Now living in Australia I often find myself sitting in the dark at stupid o’clock questioning my choice.
I coached the Women 18’s division 1 soccer team for Brookvale FC. I trained this team for 10 years and watched them develop from enthusiastic kids into a team of brilliant young women. I like it when they win, but nothing beats watching the team play good structured football with confidence and skill. That makes me very proud.
I’ve collected comic books from childhood.
I loved (love) the extraordinary art and stories of 2000AD. I should probably sell some and free up the space in my mum’s attic.
I own a 1969 VW Kombi, it’s a labour of love and currently in pieces. Old cars are infuriating and expensive, but it was great for taking my mind off the whole covid thing - when I decided foolishly to take it apart. Now I’ve taught myself to weld and do bodywork - and I have the scars to prove it. She’ll be back on the road this year - 2025. Probably.
I’ve been surfing for over 25 years, I should be better at it by now. This is an old photograph, these days my boards are much bigger and the waves smaller.
